Plans changed: Blåmannen winter!

We’ve had plenty of sudden changes in our plans. First of all, Lauri had bad fever and he was given antibiotics the day before our flights should have left to the Alps. As it’s not possible to acclimatize while being sick we had to cancel the flights. It sucked big time!

But it didn’t suck for too long. The very next day Sampsa had joined Saku and Eetu for their plans of winter ascent of Ultima Thule on Blåmannen in Northern Norway. These plans were later to become the fourth winter ascent of this north facing wall in 20+ years. The pictures are online here and www.pitoni.fi.

Alps in two weeks

If you didn’t know it already, we’ll be leaving for the Alps soon! Our flight to Frankfurt leaves on February 23rd and we’re returning three weeks later.
We’re planning on acclimatizing on the Hörnli ridge and then we’ll perhaps have a look at the Eiger if conditions are good. We’ll be sending some dispatches for Aamulehti during the first weeks!

El Capitan: The Nose (in a day, NIAD)

Do you know what is the best one day rock climb in the world? Well… It’s the Nose and we climbed it on Thursday! The storms cleared the route so we were there alone and we had a blast! Check the fotos!
Thanks to Tom Evans for the ground shots!
